The Mill Reef Stakes is a Group Two race for 2-year-old thoroughbreds as some of the finest juveniles from around the country compete. It is an exciting betting opportunity as it is a great chance to take a look at those up-and-coming horses that might be worth keeping a note of for the future.

The race takes place each year in September at Newbury and involves a distance of six furlongs and eight yards.

It was first established in 1972, and the first ever winner, Mons Fils, went on to upset the odds the following year by winning the 2,000 Guineas at odds of 50/1.

Nowadays the leading contenders from the race tend to go on to compete in the Middle Park Stakes or the Dewhurst Stakes, so the race at Newbury is a prime opportunity to get your betting research in and find that potential winner for the Middle Park or Dewhurst.
