Middle Park Stakes Betting

The Middle Park Stakes is a six furlong Group One race for two year old colts, which is raced over the Rowley Mile on the first day of the Newmarket Autumn meeting in October. It is one of the longest established 2 year old races in the country and is also one of the most prestigious that attracts many of the top performing two year olds each racing season.

Many of the leading runners in the race will go on to compete in the following years 2000 Guineas, although it has to be said that the last horse to go on and win the 2000 Guineas was Rodrigo de Triano in 1991, he was trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, who also won the Irish 2000 Guineas with him. Another famous winner was Brigadier Gerrard, who also went on to win the Guineas as well as a further dozen Group One races.

2000 Guineas

The Group One, 2000 Guineas is the opening colts classic of the season, which is also run over the full Rowley Mile at Newmarket. It is open to three year old colts only and is usually contested by the cream of Europes young three olds, who have usually performed well in their juvenile year.

Races such as the Middle Park Stakes are recognised early trials for the Guineas, and its winners usually are in the line up at Newmarket looking for Classic glory. The last horse to achieve the double was Rodrigo de Triano in 1991, who also went on to win the Irish 2000 Guineas.
