The Kingmaker Novices Chase takes place during February each year at Warwick racecourse and it is a race that has been won by some of the very best that British horse racing has had to offer in the past.

It is a 2 mile contest, with twelve fences to be jumped along the way, and it is classed as a Grade Two affair. The race is open to novice horses aged 5-years-old and over and it is well worth noting that ante-post favourites have justified short odds in recent renewals

Long Run was one of those to justify ante-post favouritism as Nicky Henderson's gelding won the 2010 Kingmaker Novices Chase and he of course went on to bigger and better things by winning the Cheltenham Gold Cup at Cheltenham Festival.

The Kingmaker Novices has witnessed a number of fine winners in the past, including Gauvain, Finian's Rainbow and Voy Por Ustedes, and it is well worth looking out for the odds of winners of this race to enjoy success in some of the bigger races later in the season and indeed in future seasons.

The race itself can often be a tough test due to its timing in February, with the inclement weather often providing testing ground conditions. The race has had to be moved to Wincanton in the past due to poor conditions at Warwick and it could be worth checking out the form of horses at these courses when considering placing a bet on this competitive race.
