King George Stakes Betting

The King George Stakes takes place during the Glorious Goodwood meeting in July and usually takes place on the third day of this exciting betting extravaganza. With five days of racing on show, there is rarely a dull moment for punters and there are plenty of odds and betting markets to take advantage of.

The King George Stakes is not to be mistaken with Ascot's King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, which takes place during the same time of year.

The Goodwood race involves a five furlong dash and it is a Group Two race for thoroughbred horses aged three years old and above. There hasn't been one trainer dominate the race in recent years so there is little to offer many hints from a betting perspective there, although the top stables of Aidan O'Brien and Sir Michael Stoute are normally well represented.

Interestingly, the leading contenders from the King George often go on to compete in the Nunthorpe Stakes in August and that could provide some interest for punters looking for big odds and the possibility of doubling up on a horse.

Masamah made all on the standside rail to make it three wins from five this season and in doing so picked up the first Group Two success of his career for Kevin Ryan. The 4/1 shot had too much for Amour Propre and Group Therapy, who finished second and third respectively, with 7/2 ante-post favourite Noble Storm back in ninth.
