Nayef Joel Stakes Betting

The Joel Stakes is one of the last opportunities for British flat racing fans to have a punt as the season draws to a close. The race is part of the three-day Cambridgeshire Meeting at Newmarket in late September and there are a host of betting opportunities to be had.

The Group Two race is open to thoroughbreds aged three and over, and the horses take to the Rowley Mile at the famous course. The race was originally a one mile, two furlong affair but was cut to its current distance in 1989.

The race has undergone other changes as it was elevated to Group Two status in 2011 and it was originally known as the Main Reef Stakes, after the horse Main Reef who won the 1978 July Stakes.

It has been known under its current Joel Stakes name since in 1994 and trainer Sir Michael Stoute has enjoyed success in recent years as he has most wins for a trainer with three victories in the race.
