Goodwood Cup Betting

The Goodwood Cup is always a much anticipated race for both horse racing enthusiasts and punters alike as some of the best flat racing horses compete in this Group Two race. It takes place each year at the five day Glorious Goodwood meeting in July and it is one of the main betting opportunities for the week.

The race takes place on day three usually and it involves a 2 mile trip, with horses aged three years old and over competing.

There is generally some tempting odds on offer and several horses have come back to win the race for a second and even third time - Double Trigger (1995, 1997, 1998), Persian Punch (2001, 2003) and Yeats (2006, 2008) have all achieved the feat. There could be good value in the odds to back a returning winner doing the double this year, while you could look to double up on on a horse winning one of the other races in the 'Stayers Triple Crown'.

The 'Stayers Triple Crown' is the leading contest in Britain for stayers and punters could be tempted to take a look at a horse winning the Gold Cup and/or the Doncaster Cup later in the season.
