The Galway Racing festival is Ireland's number one Horse Racing Festival, it is also the number one betting bonanza for Irish bookmakers. The meeting is one of the most colourful in the wworld and lasts for seven days with many taking a week’s annual holiday to be there. It is a feast of both Flat and National Hunt races which brings together some of the bst horses and jockeys in Ireland with plenty of challengers from the UK. The Galway festival has grown enormously over the last decade and can boast over a quarter of a million visitors each year. These days, not only is it covered by Irish TV, it is also televised by Attheraces for the ever growing UK audiences.
The big feature of the Festival is the world famous Galway Plate but that is closely followed by the Galway Hurdle. The Chase course is quite unique with the final two fences being very close together which can seriously hamper those contesting a fast finish.
Every year Galway hosts the almost famous whispers, which are tips that travel through the crowds like wild fire and can often hugely alter the odds of any given race. These whispers are more common in the Handicap races.
Online UK Bookmakers do a brisk trade on the Galway Racing Festival and offer plenty of Galway Races Free Bets for online punters to take advantage of. Please check these oou by clicking this link Free Bet offers if you are a new customer to their site.
Trainer Dermot Weld is the man to follow at Galway, it is very rare that he leaves the week’s proceedings without a handful plus of winners.
Whilst Galway boasts as being the most popular horse racing festival in Ireland, there is no doubt that pride of place in England belongs to the incredible Cheltenham Festival which takes place in annually in Mid-March
it is a four day long festival where the cream of National Hunt racing from both the UK and Ireland (and sometimes France) gather and compete for the seasons top honours in both novice and senior categories.
The biggest highlight of course is the Cheltenham Gold Cup, which in 2010 promises to host one of the greatest races ever seen between Denman and reigning champion, Kauto Star. It is being billed as the race of the century and is one absolutely not to be missed. See our preview of Cheltenham and the Denman v Kauto Star battle bhy clicking the link below.
