The Epsom Derby is the most prestigious of all English flat races and is the principle race of the five classics of Horse Racing Betting. It is contested at the famous Epsom racecourse covering a distance of 1 mile and 4 furlongs and is open only to thoroughbred colts and fillies of three years of age. It is Britain’s richest race and was first inaugurated way back in 1780.

There was a first French winner since 1976 as Pour Moi stormed to victory to give legendary trainer Alexandre Fabre his first ever Derby winner. The build up to the race had been dominated by the Queen's Carlton House, who was 5/2 ante-post favourite, but he met trouble while running and came in third, with Treasure Beach an impressive runner up by a head from Pour Moi
