The Dubai Racing Carnival gets underway towards the end of January and continues for 11 weeks with a different meeting each week. Some of the meetings are based over 1 day and others over 2. The Carnival culminates on 26th March with the running of the world’s richest race, the Dubai World Cup.
For the second time the Carnival will be held at the magnificent Meydan Racecourse which has cost over 2 Billion Dollars to build and is without doubt the most luxurious racecourse in the world, even boasting its own Marina and Five Star Hotel. There will be horses from all over the world taking part and there will be plenty of opportunities for punters to get involved in the ante-post betting throughout January to March. With $11 billion of prize money on offer as well it is sure to be a popular event for betting.
The course has two racetracks, one of turf and the other of All Weather constituted from a material known as Tapeta, which has already proven popular with the horses following a series of trials.

The Dubai World Cup is run on the final day of the Dubai Carnival with prize money on offer being $10m dollars, making it the world’s richest race. It was won in 2011 by Victoire Pisa, who came home by half a length from Japanese compatriot and 40/1 punt Transcend. It was won in 2010 by Gloria De Campeao, who avenged defeats in 2008 and 2009 where he had finished runner up. He was a 16/1 chance in the ante-post betting but produced the goods when it mattered and it was a case of third time lucky as he won by a nose from Lizard's Desire in a thrilling race.
The Dubai World Cup is raced over 10 furlongs and from 2011 it will be hosted by the magnificent Meydan Racecourse and raced on a Tapeta All Weather track. The race is open to both colts and fillies aged over 3 years old.
