The Drinmore Novice Chase forms part of an exceptional day of national hunt horse racing and betting at Fairyhouse in December. The race features some high class novice chasers from both Ireland and plenty of stars from the UK come across to challenge.
The Grade One race for horses aged four and older involves a trip of two miles, four furlongs and there are fifteen fences to be jumped along the way.
The Drinmore Novice Chase was first run in 1994 when it replaced the old Drinmore Chase. It is run on the same day as a couple of other high class Grade One races at Fairyhouse in December - the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle and Hatton's Grace Hurdle.
The whole day makes for an exceptional betting opportunity and there are a few things to note when looking at the ante-post odds...
Noel Meade is the most successful trainer in the Drinmore Novice Chase, winning four times, including the 2010 renewal with Jessies Dream. Meanwhile, Paul Carberry has ridden his fair share of winners as he is the most successful jockey with three victories of his own. Furthermore, for those who like considering trends when betting, six year olds have enjoyed plenty of success - winning five of the last eight renewals.
