Desert Orchid Chase Betting

The Desert Orchid Chase is a relatively new steeplechase race having only been in existence since 2006 when it replaced the Castleford Chase. It is named after the late, great horse Desert Orchid who won the prestigious King George VI Chase four times. The 2011 race is due to take place on 27th December.

Desert Orchid was a legend of the jump tracks and this race was named after him in memorial following his death in November 2006. His ashes were subsequently scattered at Kempton Park, and it highlights his popularity within the horse racing world.

The race itself is a great opportunity for betting and is a Grade 2 National Hunt chase for 4 year olds and over held at Kempton Park. It is usually run each year in late December when the betting really begins to hot up through horse racing and it involves a distance of 2 miles and 12 challenging fences.
