The 2010 Chester Cup will take place on 5th May 2010 at the beautiful Chester racecourse. The race is a stayers handicap ran over 2 miles and nearly 3 furlongs for horses aged 4 years or older. It has been running since way back in 1824 and has had many noteworthy winners, the most famous of which was probably Sea Pigeon, who won the race twice in 1977 and 1978. It was won in 2009 by the Barry Hills trained Daraahen, giving him his fourth winner of the race.
The race is usually run on the first day of the three day annual May meeting at Chester and usually follows the running of the Cheshire Oaks, a trial race for the Epsom Oaks a month later. The feature race on the second day of the Festival is the Group 3 Chester Vase - a Derby Trial, while on Day three the Ormonde Stakes, also a Group 3 takes centre stage, the whole week is a sports betting feat for punters.
Chester racecourse is like a breath of fresh air, with its unique tight track in close proximity to the crowd. It is the oldest racecourse in the UK, where racing has been staged from as early as the 16th century. The May meeting in fact, is Chester's biggest meeting of the year where the Chester Cup has established itself as one of the most popular betting races in the country.

The May Festival has often been likened to that of Royal Ascot and often the quality of racing is at least equal to that of Newmarket and as such we have compiled some soecial free bets for the occasion.
The track is left-handed and just over a mile round but its main characteristic is the shortness of its run-in of just 239 yards, which offers little scope for last-minute bursts. Trainers believe that their horses will learn a lot about the hustle and bustle of racing on this track.
Epsom Derby winners Oath (1999) and Kris Kin (2003) are among those to have used Chester as a stepping stone to greater glory.
The 2010 Epsom Derby runners will not be fully known until after the early season Derby Trials and the the 2000 Guineas has taken place. Only then will trainers have a clear idea of what horse they have with Derby chances. The Epsom Derby betting currently has the Aidan O’Brien trained, St Nicholas Abbey favourite, but it si by no means certain that he will run.
The race was won in 2009 by the great Sea The Stars, who had already won the 2000 Guineas and would go on to win a further four Group One races, including the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
