The Charlie Hall Chase takes place between late October and early November, and gets the National Hunt horse racing season into full swing as all eyes look ahead to the season highlight of Cheltenham Festival in March. The Charlie Hall Chase is due to be run on 28th October 2012.
The Chase is held at Wetherby racecourse in West Yorkshire, and is run over 3 miles and 1 furlong with 18 eighteen fences. It is a Grade 2 National Hunt race for horses that are five years old and above, and the inaugural race took place in 1969.
Winners tend to be slightly more mature horses with nine of the last ten winners aged between eight and ten years old. While seven of the previous ten winners placed in their previous race before the Charlie Hall Chase.

Weird Al beat ante-post favourite Time For Rupert on his first start for trainer Donald McCain. The victor was immediately cut in the odds for next year's Cheltenham Gold Cup as a result.
