Champion Hurdle Betting - Cheltenham Festival

The Champion Hurdle is the highest rated race for hurdlers in the country and takes place on the first day of the annual Cheltenham Festival. The date for the 2010 renewal is 16th March 2010. Favourite ahead of the race is the Charlie Byrnes trained Solwhit, a winner of five Grade One Hurdle races, three of them this season. He replaces 2009 Triumph Hurdle winner, Zaynar, trained by Nicky Henderson, who was beaten in February 18th in a low grade warm up run at Kelso.

Henderson in fact had a very strong hand in this year’s race but whilst Zaynar was losing his reputation at Kelso, one of his two other leading fancies, Binocular, was being withdrawn from the race due to a setback at the Seven Barrows stable. Others who are well fancied for this include the Noel Meade trained, Go Native, winner of the 2009 Supreme Novices Hurdle and conquerror of Solwhit in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle in November. He has since also won the Grade One, Christmas Hurdle at Kempton and is reported as being in great from at home. Medermit is another who has recently impressed, this Alan King trained 2009 Supreme Novices Hurdle runner up was a very impressive winner of the Champion Hurdle trial at the end of January at Haydock, where he had Punjabi well beaten in behind.

In fact the 2010 Champion Hurdle is shaping up to be one of the best races of the entire four days with the top six or seven in the betting all in with live chances.
