The British Champions Sprint Stakes replaced the Diadem Stakes in 2011 as part of the inaugural British Champions Day at Ascot in October. The race offers one of the most competitive betting heats of the flat racing season as it provides the season finale of the British Champions Sprint series category.
With a prize purse of £250,000 it is a popular race for trainers, owners and punters alike as some of the top 3-year-old plus sprinters from around the country take to the famous Ascot course. The race involves a distance of six furlongs and is officially a Group Two affair, although many believe the standard is so high that it is effectively a Group One race.
It is run over the same course and distance as the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, and there are sure to be some top names in the ante-post betting as it offers a chance to shine with the flat racing season drawing to a close.
