Ballycorus Stakes Betting

The Ballycorus Stakes takes place in May each year and is an exciting flat race at the famous Leopardstown racecourse in Ireland. Punters will no doubt find plenty of value in the odds and it is worth remembering that horses often come back for a second crack at the race.

Tumbleweed Ridge claimed the title for three consecutive years from 1998 to 2000 an in doing so made Brian Meehan one the most successful trainer in the race's history.

The race itself is a 7 furlong affair for thoroughbreds aged three years of age and over. It is a Group Three race after it was upgraded from Listed status in 1995.

In terms of looking for trends in the race to help with betting, Brian Meehan has three wins to his name, but Dermot Weld leads the way with six victories and contenders from his stables are always worth a look in the ante-post betting. Such is the short nature of the 7 furlong race, it makes online betting on in running very difficult indeed and the best value is likely to be found ante-post.

Other Irish flat races to come in May and June include the Pretty Polly Stakes and the Irish Derby.

Bewitched comfortably won the Ballyscorus Stakes by a length and a quarter and bookmakers reacted immediately by clipping the 4-year-old in for the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot next month. Johnny Murtagh made his move in the final straight and Zoffany and Glor Na Mara couldn't keep pace.
