Previously known as the Letheby & Christopher Chase, the newly named Argento Chase is registered as the Cotswold Chase and is a Grade Two National Hunt Chase run at Cheltenham Trials Day at the Cheltenham racecourse. It is raced over a distance of 3 miles and 1½ furlongs, taking on nineteen fences and is for horses aged five years or older. The Argento Chase has been raced since 1988 and is regarded as a definite trial for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The race was run on heavy ground in 2009 and was won by the dour stayer Joe Lively, with odds of 11/1. Behind him was Halcon Genelardais, a former winner of the Welsh National with third place going to the 2008 Arkle Chase winner Tidal Bay.
Both Joe Lively and Halcon Genelardais contested the Argento Chase in 2010 which was won by the Paul Nicholls trained Taranis, a fantastic training effort with the horse having been off the track for two years since winning the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.
The race has produced several fine winners the most notable of recent times, being the late great, Exotic Dancer, who won the 2007 renewal before going on to be second to Kauto Star in the Cheltenham Gold Cup a couple of months later. Sadly Exotic Dancer was lost to racing after suffering a heart attack after his last run at Aintree.
See More Business, trained by Paul Nicholls, won this race twice in both 1998 and 2001 and also won the Cheltenham Gold Cup in between those years in 1999.

The latest odds will appear here as soon as they are available.....
The Argento Chase is regarded as a trial for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, which as most punters will know is being regarded as a two horse race currently.
In 2009, Kauto Star became the first horse to regain the Gold Cup, while in 201 Imperial Commander defied the odds and stablemates Denman and Kauto Star to emerge victorious.
It is sure to be another exciting race for punters this year with a high quality field expected to ensure plenty of ante-post betting opportunities......
