Nassau Stakes Betting: Rosanara Can Bloom at Glorious Goodwood

It is not too often horses come back the following year to win a Group One race for the second time, but the Henry Cecil trained, Midday has got what it takes to do so in the weekend’s Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. The Bookmakers certainly think she can Paddy Power Bookmakers for instance has made her the 9/4 favourite and are reporting plenty of money for her antepost.

The 4 year old has had just the one run this season finishing second to her old rival, Sariska in the Group 2 , Middleton Stakes at York, but before that of course she won the hearts of the whole racing community when winning the Breeders Cup Fillies Turf at Santa Anita.

Opposing her in this race is the very tasty French filly, Stacelita, who ran up six wins last season, before meeting Sea The Stars in the ‘Arc’, where she finished a creditable seventh. This season , she was beaten by Goldikova in a Group One race at Longchamp, before returning to winning ways when she took the Group Three La Coupe, also at Longchamp. This will be her first race outside of France and provided she travels and settles well she could be a major threat to Midday. She is currently available at 7/2 also from PaddyPower.

Also at 7/1 currently is a second French filly, Rosanara, trained by Andre de Royer-Dupre, who finished a close up second to the unbeaten Sarafina in the French Oaks. On that form alone she comes to Goodwood with a great chance.

Sir Michael Stoute will be trying for further Group One success in this race with Strawberrydaiquiri, who disappointed last time when only 4th behind Music show in the Group One, Falmouth Stakes. The general feeling however is that if she could not win the Falmouth then she is hardly likely to make the grade here so we advise she is best left alone this time around, despite the 6/1 on offer from paddy power.

For our money we are going to chance our arm with Rosanara, an opinion based solely on her last run in which she looked extremely classy and from which she is sure to improve. Please note there is no each way available in this race due to the seven runner field.
