Richard Hannon will once again take one of his many stable stars over to the Curragh this weekend to take on the might of the Ballydoyle and other top Irish yards in the Group One, Moyglare Stud Stakes over 7 furlongs. The star turn this time is his unbeaten filly, Memory, who is the 10/11 odds on favourite with Paddy Power to win the race and who was last seen winning the Group Two, Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket in early July. By all accounts she has progressed even further since then which is why she has hardened as favourite for the 1000 Guineas next May.
The race of course is now part of the Breeders Cup Challenge series, with the winner earning an automatic invitation into the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, which is probably the season end target for the 2 year old filly.
£100 Free Bet from Paddy Power for the Moyglare Stud Stakes.
Before passing the winning posts in either the Breeders Cup or the 1000 Guineas she has to overcome a very stiff Irish challenge, from Ballydoyle, whose Master, Aidan O’Brien has four entries opposing her. But the biggest challenge of all would appear to come from the Jessica Harrington trained, Laughing Lashes, winner of the Group Two Debutante Stakes earlier this month and who has come on leaps and bounds since then. It should be noted that she has been supplement to run in the race, suggesting there is plenty of stable confidence behind her. She has also been backed from 9/2 into 7/2 with Irish Bookmakers, Paddy Power.
The O’Brien challenge will be led by Together, who was third behind Laughing Lashes in the Debutante on yielding ground, but who had finished a length in front of her three weeks earlier when winning the Group Three, Silver Flash Stakes at Leopardstown on ground described as good. Unless plenty of rain falls between now and race time, the ground will be at the very least good, which in theory gives the advantage to Together, who at 10/1 with Paddy power might just be the value bet of the race.
In fact all of the Ballydoyle horses have chances, particularly Misty For Me who finished in front of Together when taking second place in the Debutante. Wild Wind too finished in front of Laughing Lashes in a 7 furlong Maiden in July so she too is in with a chance on that form and has odds of 11/1 to win.
For our money however we are going to stick with Memory to win and suggest that Together is the each way value bet of the race.
Selection 1: Memory to win @ 10/11 (£25 Bet Wins £22.72)
Selection 2: Together Each Way @ 10/1 ( £25 Bet wins Maximum £312.50)
10/11 Memory
7/2 Laughing Lashes
10/1 Together
10/1 Misty For Me
11/1 Wild Wind
12/1 Kissable
25/1 Why
33/1 BAR
