The Group Two, Celebration Mile at Goodwood this afternoon looks like a straightforward two horse race between the Sir Michael Stoute trained, Main Aim and Godolphin’s Poets Voice. The race has all in all attracted a very disappointing four runner field for the feature race of the day and one that usually has a lot more importance attached to it. As it stands Ladbrokes go Even Money on Main Aim and make Poets Voice 6/4, which again is disappointing with no real value to be had on either.
Odds Comparison for the Celebration Mile
Possibly the safest thing to do in this race is go with the Stoute record in the race, the top class trainer has trained no fewer than seven winners in the last eleven renewals and although Main Aim is an inconsistent sort, he still looks the strongest of the four. He was last seen coming fourth in the Group Two, Betfair Cup a month ago over 7 furlongs on this course, but before that he ran poorly in the Group One, Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot finishing well down the field won by Starspangledbanner.

Poets Voice who will be ridden by Frankie Dettori was last seen in the winners enclosure last September after winning the Group Two , Champagne Stakes last September, but he has been inconsistent since then, although he looked like he was in good form when second a fortnight ago at Salisbury in the Group Three, Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury on ground that was good to firm.
The other two in the race, Summer Fete and Vitznau do not seem up to the task on paper, but on dodgy ground with ‘inconsistency’ a tagline that applies to all four runners anything is likely to happen. Vitznau trained by Richard Hannon gas to be respected on trainer form alone, after all Hannon was top trainer at Glorious Goodwood a month ago. He at least has some value at 12/1 with Ladbrokes.com.
The final runner, Sumer Fete, trained by Brian Smart should not be discounted, although it has to be said that she has failed to impress on her two runs so far this season. However she won on this course just over a year ago, taking the Group Three Oak tree Stakes and if that form is reproduced she is in with a cbig hance.
As always we will look for value in the race, which means we will be taking on the two favourites.
Selection: Summer Fete @ 8/1 (£25 Bet win £200)
Evens Main Aim, 6/2 Poets Voice, 8/1 Summer Fete, 12/1 Vitznau
