A maximum field of twenty has been declared for Friday's Totesport Mile at Glorious Goodwood and it looks as though Green Destiny will take all the beating. William Haggas's 3-year-old has plenty in his favour and he is an industry best priced 3/1 favourite with Bet 365, although the late confirmation of Sagramoor will provide plenty of interest.
Green Destiny looks a potential Group winner in the making after destroying a very decent field in the John Smith's Cup at York earlier this month. The gelding blew the rest away with an awesome performance that saw him come from the rear to take victory and he will take some beating on that form.
There is plenty in favour of the 3-year-old, not least the good ground conditions (he struggled on soft ground at Ascot last month), the very handy weight allocation (9st 3lbs) and the hugely favourable draw from stall two.
Next best in the odds is Hughie Morrison's Sagramoor, who was only confirmed for the race on Thursday morning. The 3-year-old colt was due to run in the one mile two furlong handicap at Glorious Goodwood on Thursday but Dunn'o's withdrawal has opened the door for the progressive contender. He too has a favourable draw of four and has impressed so far in winning a handicap at Haydock and then taking the Britannia at Royal Ascot last time out.
Sagramoor beat Cai Shen that day and Richard Hannon's Ifraaj colt reopposes from stall nine this week. B365 price the 7-year-old at 12/1 after he coped with top weight well at Ascot, although he was a disappointing third last time out.
Ed Walker's Riggins is available at 10/1 as the gelding looks to build on a fine 2010 season that saw the 7-year-old finish second in the Royal Hunt Cup and win on the all weather over a mile. The two outings this year have been disappointing though but the addition of a hood this week is expected to aid a vast improvement.
William Haggas also enters Green Destiny's stable mate, Sooraah, as the filly looks to build on her win over a mile in listed company at Ascot last week. She charged from the rear to take the win that day, although there looks to be better value at 14/1 in the field this week.
Highland Knight (14/1) lost out to Sooraah at Ascot and is also priced 14/1 and despite being improved during 2011, winning a one mile handicap at Sandown last time out, the gelding must overcome a 7lbs rise from his last outing.
Of more interest could be Dance And Dance, with the one mile trip expected to suit. The 14/1 punt with Bet365.com carries top weight of 9st 10lbs and has plenty to do from stall 14, but the ever improving gelding looks to have plenty of class. He was a winner of an Epsom handicap and was a narrow second to Julienas in the Royal Hunt Cup, and he looks well worth each-way consideration.
Elsewhere, Pintura (14/1), a three time winner in one mile handicaps, might struggle with a lack of cut in the ground. While the front running The Rectifier (14/1) takes to handicap racing for the first time, with Boom and Bust (16/1) looking to improve on a poor run in listed company last time out. This race looks no easier and it is Green Destiny who looks to take all the beating.
3/1 Green Destiny
6/1 Sagramoor
10/1 Riggins
12/1 Cai Shen
14/1 Dance And Dance
14/1 Sooraah
14/1 Highland Knight
14/1 Pintura
14/1 The Rectifier
16/1 Boom And Bust
18/1 BAR
