The Group Two Betfair Cup which takes place on the opening day of Glorious Goodwood, looks to be an absolute cracking renewal, with 2009 winner, Finjaan, looking to repeat his win from 2009. it is always hard to overlook an Aidan O’Brien horse in any race, but particularly so at Glorious Goodwood. He is represented in this by Air Chief Marshal, a winner of his last three starts including a very good looking performance in the Group Three Minstrel Stakes over 7 furlongs at the Curragh earlier this month. The 3 year old looks to have really settled down to racing these days and is certainly one who will be well backed at 7/1 to win this.

The one we are going to have wager on however is the Sir Michael Stoute trained five year old, Main Aim, who these days is clearly more competitive over 7 furlongs, if his win in the Group Three Timeform Jury Stakes at Haydock at the end of May, is anything to go by. He finished last of eight in this last year admittedly, but he had the worst draw and had no sort of run in the race to help him along. Should jockey, Ryan Moore, keep him handy in this then he has the speed and class over this distance to win it. He is certainly worth an each way bet at 8/1 also with William Hill Bookmakers.
