The horse is highly thought of down at Ditcheat and has proven himself a consistent sort both over Hurdles and fences – he has yet to finish outside of the frame. The big worry here however is that he is stepping up in class and he is going up against some real dour stayers and proven chasers. At the end of the day he was running at Novice Chase level until January and this test may have come just a little too early for him. He is second favourite however with odds of 5/1 also from Paddy Power.

One we do like the look of is the Emma Lavelle trained, Kilcrea Castle, she should feel more confident about his chances, now that Miss Mitch has been withdrawn. The trainer has been very bullish about her horse’s chances all week, and when she is bullish her charges normally do well.

The one we like the most however is the David Pipe trained, Madison Du Berlais, who we believe is the class horse in the race and can handle both this course and top weight to win. Although a distance behind, he was second to Kauto Star in the King George Chase on Boxing Day where he had a host of top class chasers in behind; at 8/1 Madison du Berlais is the one for us.
