An injury has kept him off course until this year and trainer, Sean Curran is well pleased with his progress, believing that his recent run over hurdles has put him in the groove for a big run in this. One we like the look of is the Ferdy Murphy trained soft ground lover, Galant Nuit who still looks on a good mark, despite being raised 7lbs after winning the Grade 3, Servo Trophy Chase at Cheltenham back in November. Murphy also has a good record in this race with one win and four places in the last ten renewals; although not great odds, it looks like 6/1 from bet365 is the best we are going to get for a horse we think has been specifically trained for the race.
There is much to like about the chances of the Jamie Poulton trained, Ballyfoy, a winner of his last two starts on heavy ground. He will have plenty in his favour in this, but is not yet proven over the extended trip. Should he get the 4 miles then he has a great chance to be there or thereabouts at the finish. He can be backed currently at respectable odds of 8/1 also with Bet365.
