The Irish Arkle Chase at Leopardstown this weekend could well be described as a race of two jockeys, rather than two horses. Ruby Walsh and Tony McCoy ride the two favourites in the race, but interestingly Walsh rides Sports Line for his Irish boss, Willie Mullins, in preference to his English boss Paul Nicholls, who in turn has hired the considerable talents of McCoy to replace him to ride Take The Breeze.
As it stands at the moment it is Take The Breeze who is favourite with odds of 2/1, while Sports Line is just behind at 11/4, but these odds are sure to fluctuate well before the off.
Latest Irish Arkle Chase Odds Comparison
Both of the two favourites for this race hold an entry for the Arkle Trophy Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March, but it will be dependent on their performances in this as to whether they will go to the Festival or not.
Take The Breeze is highly though of by Nicholls and the Ditcheat team, he has won his last three starts, including a 32 length victory in a quality Novice chase at Newbury just a month ago and is said to have come on leaps and bounds for the run. Sports Line who has also won his last three outings, has not ran since November where he was an easy winner of a Beginners Chase at Navan. He is said to be in good form at home and has impressed Walsh with his improvement over the last few months. On paper it is difficult to choose between them and would advise that punters keep careful tabs on the antepost market to check on any significant market moves.
Free Irish Arkle Chase Bet With Boylesports
One market mover already in the race has been the Colm Murphy trained, Zaarito, who was a good winner last time of a Beginners Chase over course and distance at the end of December. More significantly, before that he had ran Captain Cee Bee to a neck when second to him in a Beginners Chase at the start of December. Captain Cee Bee of course, is the current antepost favourite for the Arkle Trophy Chase at Cheltenham and thought to be the best novice chaser around.
Clearly this will be a close race between the top two or three in the market, but we think that Take The Breeze will take all the beating and would further suggest that he has the potential to become yet another Ditcheat superstar. We would even consider backing him now at 25/1 with Boylesports For the Arkle at Cheltenham in March.
