Clever Fox Norton Looks A Big Price For Stunning King George VI Chase At Kempton
Tuesday 26th December 2017, 3.05pm - King George VI Chase (Kempton Park)
Christmas is all about Jumps Racing and the main course comes on Boxing Day at Kempton Park with the famous King George VI Chase taking centre stage. One of the biggest races in the sport, we have a stellar field engaged for the 3m Grade 1 contest and it is shaping up to be one of the deepest renewals in recent memory.
- Nicky Henderon and Colin Tizzard have both trained the King George winner twice during their careers

Might Bite The Clear Favourite
The betting market is tight for the race this year but we do have a warm favourite in the form of the potentially special Might Bite. The RSA Chase winner impressed on seasonal debut at Sandown this season and goes to this race with a reputation for being talented, but quirky.
We all saw him try to pull himself up when well clear in the RSA Chase only to get going again and claim the win on the line, and that personality has already made him one of the most popular in training. This is another big step up for him as he takes on the big boys for the first time but he proved last year he loved Kempton, and is the 11/8 favourite for the win with Ladbrokes.
A Whole Host Of Horses In With A Chance
Might Bite is the progressive young horse in the field but this is a deep race, and there are more than enough challengers to give him a major race.
Chief among those is the brilliant Bristol De Mai (7/2) who comes to the King George fresh off a stunning Betfair Chase win, and the dream of the £1m bonus still alive. His form on decent ground away from Haydock is slightly below top class which is a worry but should the rain arrive, the Nigel Twiston-Davies trained horse will be right in the mix.
Thistlecrack (6/1) is the defending champion and remains hugely popular but there are now doubts about him following his below par return in the Long Distance Hurdle. A supreme talent at his best, he won this race as a novice in 2016, but it is hard to back him with any real confidence given his injury layoff and disappointing return.
As well as Might Bite, Nicky Henderson also the ultra solid Whisper in the field and he is one that will appeal to each-way punters this Christmas. Behind Might Bite in the RSA Chase, he returned in the Ladbrokes Trophy to run a monster race with weight on his back, and although you feel he will get outclassed by one or two, he might appeal to some at 9/1 Bet365.
Cunning Fox Can Nab A Place
Might Bite certainly looks the one to beat but from a betting point of view it is Fox Norton who makes most appeal. Formerly with Neil Mulholland, the 7YO has been sensational since moving to Colin Tizzard and there is no reason why he can't put in a strong display. A Grade 1 winner at 2m and 2m4f, he more than deserves his chance on a flat track over 3m.
There is a chance he tires on the run in but he can still pick up some place money at 13/2 with Betfair for each way players.
