The market leader Gio Ponti comes to Arlington off the back of a fine win in the Grade 1 Man O'War Stakes last time out at Belmont Park in July. The Christophe Clement trained five year old hasn't been out of the top four in his last six races, including a fourth place finish in the Debai World Cup last March and a second place finish at last year's Breeders Cup, where he was beaten a length by Zenyatta in the Breeders Cup Classic. On the face of it, he deserves to go off favourite for Saturday night's race.
The John Gosden trained Tazeez is the shortest price of three British trained runners in the race at a best price of 9/2 with bookmaker Bet 365. The six-year-old will be ridden by Richard Hills and has been placed on all four appearances this summer. He was third behind Byword at the Royal Ascot meeting in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at a huge price of 40/1 and followed that up with another third place at Newmarket last time out in a Group 2 contest. He gets the trip but as with all of the British trained horses, it's with the gods as to how well he's made the long trip to the States.
Summit Surge is a best price 8/1 with Bet365, trained by Luca Cumani and ridden by Kieren Fallon has his claims. The six-year-old was last seen on the track winning the Sky Bet York Stakes by one and a quarter lengths, after a hevy campaign in Meydan for the Dubai World Cup. The remaining British runner is the 16/1 shot Debussy, where Bet365 once again seem happy to go best price. John Gosden's second runner in the race is less fancied than Tazeez and will be ridden by stable jockey William Buick. There look to be too many too good for the four-year-old hear, who does boast a Group 3 win at Chester earlier in the summer.
At the price, the Bryon G Hughes trained six-year-old Rahystrada looks a cracking each-way bet at 10/1. He's a course and distance winner, beating fellow runner Just As Well into second place last time out off the same weight in a Grade 3 handicap at Arlington last month. The Jonathan Sheppard trained seven-year-old Just As Well is four points shorter than Rahystrada in the betting at 7/1 but the form sits firmly in the stable of the Hughes camp.
If you fancy backing one of the British runners, Bet365 is the place to do it as they look happy to lay them and are best brice black type on each of the three runners.
Bet on Rahystrada to win each-way with Bet 365 @ 10/1 - A £10 each-way bet could win you up to £140.
