Bookmakers seemingly everywhere are announcing that the money is coming in for the Mick Channon trained, Youmzain for this weekend’s big Group One, King George Vl & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. The seven year old has been backed into 12/1 from 20/1 but is a best price of 14/1 with Ladbrokes.
The support apparently began following a few positive remarks made by race jockey, Richard Hughes and it has gathered momentum following the latest declarations which has reduced the field to a maximum of seven runners.

We find the move astounding, particularly as Youmzain has not seen the winners enclosure for over two years and has always found at least one better in every high class race he has run since. There is no doubting his ability, but it is hard to believe he has improved that significantly and will be able to beat the winners of both the English Derby and Irish Derby in the same race.
King George Queen Elizabeth Odds Comparison.
We also think that the real money is coming for favourite, Workforce, who won the Derby so emphatically and who will almost certainly improve for that effort. The Sir Michael Stoute trained, three year old will admittedly be taking on older horses for the first time, but such was the manner he dispatched his Epsom rivals, it is hard to see Youmzain getting close. Whilst Youmzain has been backed, Workforce has slowly moved into strong favouritism with odds of 10/11 odds on also with the ‘Magic Sign’ Ladbrokes.com Should he win of course, then the Bookmakers are going to take a hiding.
If there is any real value in the race it surely lies with Aidan O’Brien’s Cape Blanco, winner of the Irish Derby and also victor over Workforce in the Dante Stakes at York in May. He will have his pace maker, At First Sight in the race and has already proved that he can come off a strongly run race to win. At 6/1 he is clearly the value bet of the race.
Thought too should be given to the apparent second string of Stoute’s, Harbinger, who was a most impressive winner of the Group Two, Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. The 4 year old has been very progressive all season and he is highly thought of by the stable. He has also been significantly backed into the 2/1 mark, however, he can still be snapped at 9/4 with ladbrokes.com
