Jack Hobbs The One To Follow In Exciting Prince Of Wales's Stakes
Wednesday 21st June 2017, 4.20pm - Prince Of Wales's Stakes (Royal Ascot)
Royal Ascot continues on its merry way on Wednesday afternoon and the Group 1 action is served up to us in the form of the Prince Of Wales's Stakes, which is one of the highlights of the week. The Prince Of Wales's is a 1m2f contest for horses aged four and over, and as always we have a very strong field assembled.
- Sir Michael Stoute and Aidan O'Brien have both won the Prince Of Wales's Stakes twice

Top Trio At The Head Of The Market
We have nine runners engaged for the Prince Of Wales's Stakes this year but the market is dominated by the top three in the market.
The likely favourite is Highland Reel who is one of the highest earning horses of all time, and plenty expect him to add to that this week. The Aidan O'Brien trained 5YO was last seen winning the Coronation Cup at Epsom up at 1m4f, and there is no doubting he is in great form.
Highland Reel can throw in the odd dodgy run which would be a worry, plus he hasn't won over 1m2f since August 2015, but despite those negatives, he is an 11/4 shot with Ladbrokes to win.
Highland Reel ran a stinker out in Dubai back in March in the Sheema Classic, which was a race won by Jack Hobbs (3/1), who re-opposes here. Like Highland Reel, Jack Hobbs has done most of his best work up at 1m4f but it was hard not to be impressed with his Meydan run, and a repeat of his 3rd place from the Champions Stakes last season will be good enough here.
The third member of the trio at the head of the market is Ulysses, and he is a fascinating contender. He will need much more to mix it with Jack Hobbs and Highland Reel but any horse kept in training under the tutelage of Sir Michael Stoute will improve, and that is enough for him to be respected at 11/4 with Coral.
Anything Else To Consider?
It would be a major surprise if the winner didn't come from the top three in the market but we should give a mention to a couple of the others.
Decorated Knight (10/1) deserves to be in the field and might be the next best after his Group 1 win at the Curragh last time out, but he will need much more in deeper company for Roger Charlton. Very similar comments apply to Mekhtaal (10/1) who arrives from France having won a Group 1 at Chantilly last time out, but that looked a thin contest and he is up to his neck in it this time.
Jack The One To Back
The front three really do have the race between them but all three have their weaknesses for punters to consider. Highland Reel is in great form but he might want further to be at his best which means Jack Hobbs is the most likely winner as he looks to give Godolphin a big race win.
