Richard Hughes Aiming For Big Week At York As Jockeys Championship Odds Hot Up

All of the big jockeys are on the Knavesmire this week as the 2010 York Ebor Festival takes centre stage for one of the highlights of the Summer calendar, as well as the big name horses taking the limelight there is the little matter of the Jockeys Championship to focus on. This year is developing into a classic tussle in the Flat Jockeys Championship with Richard Hughes hoping for a big week as he looks to close the gap on Championship leader Paul Hanagan.

Free York Ebor Festival Bets with Paddy Power

Hanagan has been the sensation this season as he continues to ride winner after winner but he will know that in-form Richard Hughes is hot on his heels, and with defending Champ Ryan Moore missing the Festival through injury it could well be a two horse race. Hughes has an excellent book of rides this week on the Knavesmire as he goes looking for the winners he needs to close the gap, to start with he will be on board Dick Turpin in the Group 1 International Stakes and a win there will see him get off to a great start.

International Stakes 2010 Odds Comparison

Dick Turpin will be coming up in trip in this race but Hughes is supremely confident he will cope making him hard to oppose for Hughes and in-form trainer Richard Hannon. Hughes has a great book of rides all week and it is no surprise to see him priced at a short looking 5/2 with Paddy Power to claim the Top Jockey prize for the York Ebor meeting.

Johnny Murtagh though is the Jockey to beat this week at York and looking at his book of rides it is easy to see why, he will be on board a strong team for Aiden O'Brien with the likes of Rip Van Winkle and Starspangledbanner among others set to be their big chances of the week. Murtagh can be backed at 11/8 with Paddy Power to claim the Top Jockeys prize this week and it is difficult to argue with those odds, Ballydoyle also have a great chance in the Great Voltigeur with Midas Touch set to take his chance.

It is sure to be a big week on the Knavesmire with some fantastic racing on the card as well as this fascinating Jockeys sub plot involving Richard Hughes, he will be hoping for a big week as he makes a big push to close the overall gap on current leader Paul Hanagan.
