King George VI Tips: Kauto Star to Break Record at Kempton Park

Whilst most National Hunt racing fans wait patiently in anticipation of a fifth consecutive victory for Kauto Star in the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park this coming Saturday, there will be plenty of others looking avidly at the card and the host of King George tips hoping to find a realistic alternative. They will be lucky if they find one!

Kauto Star, who will be partnered by champion jockey, Tony McCoy, in fact is sure to go off as the odds on favourite, Bookmakers have reported a steady stream of money for the ten year old, but only report each way interest in any of the others. Currently Kauto Star is a best price of 4/6 with Paddy power while next best is the Nicky Henderson trained, Long Run who is 13/2 and probably on the drift. The Nightingale, stablemate to Kauto has been backed each way with many believing that the eight year old is bred to stay this trip and will enjoy the soft ground which is expected at Kempton on Saturday.

The Nightingale has been described by the Racing Post as the ‘enemy within’ but he will have to improve enormously while stepping up to Grade One company for the first time. On the plus side The Nightingale has won over 2 miles 5 furlongs at Kempton Park, which he achieved last February when taking the Grade 2 Pendil Novices Chase by an impressive 18 lengths from Othermix. He is currently available at 9/1 from Paddy Power.

Madison du Berlais, who was runner up in this race last year and Albertas Run who was second in 2008, both take their chances again and both offer good each way value at 33/1.

It is also difficult to ignore the each way claims of Forpadydeplasterer who incredibly has finished second in his last seven races, five of them at Grade 1 level. To enhance his claims even further the 2009 Arkle Trophy winner, has only ever finished outside the top two once in any of his 17 career races, which is why we think he is the best each way tip on offer and who can be backed at the outstanding odds of 16/1 available also from paddy power.
