Twist of Magic required if favourite is to be stopped in Victor Chandler Chase Betting

After the recent cold spell, staff at Ascot Racecourse will be doing everything they possibly can to ensure that the Victor Chandler Chase goes ahead on Saturday 23rd Januray. One person inparticular who will be hoping that the race gets the green light will be champion trainer, Paul Nicholls, who will be be looking to resume normal service and continue his dominance of winning the feature Saturday races of the current National Hunt season.

One of those races was the Grade One Tingle Creek at Sandown in December where his runner Twist Magic demolished his rivals in a fifteen length rout. Nicholls will be hoping for more of the same when this eight year old chaser lines up for the Victor Chandler Chase, which would also make it back to back wins in the race after Master Minded romped to victory at the Berkshire track twelve months ago.

Latest Victor Chandler Chase Odds Comparison

Currently the 11/10 favourite with the sponsors, Twist Magic is likely to take all the beating with the remainder of this Grade One field seemingly having something to find on official ratings, with the Ditcheat representative rated 173. His nearest rival Petit Robin is rated at 165 following his recent victory in the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton and is the and the 9/4 second favourite for this race.

This is likely to be Twist Magic's final run before he heads to Cheltenham Festival where he will race in the Queen Mother Champion Chase, for which he still remains a best price 10/1 with William Hill and anything close to a repeat performance of his last outing and that price is likely to be long gone.

Another runner who will have one eye on the Champion Chase is Well Chief who won this very race back in 2005. Despite only ten runs in the five years since that victory due to injuries, he is still a horse that the David Pipe yard hold in high regard.

He is a 5/1 chance to win this Ascot feature and whilst anybody backing him will be hoping for a return to the kind of form that saw him go off as the even money favourite for the 2007 Queen Mother. A win is not out of the question and if he does put his best foot forward he will be a match for Twist Magic, but currently remains only a solid each-way shout with question marks still to answer.
