The Cheltenham Festival may still be three months away but William Hill bookmakers are now offering ante-post betting for all 27 of the races in March. The four main races of the Festival will always attract plenty of interest, but it is a rare opportunity for punters to get ante-post bets in at this early stage for all of the races.
Racing gets underway at Cheltenham Festival on Tuesday 15th March and the stand out race of the day will undoubtedly be the Champion Hurdle. Menorah heads the ante-post market and is 4/1 with William Hill following a string of excellent performances at the Cheltenham racecourse. The 5-year-old won the International Hurdle by four and a half lengths from Cue Card at the weekend and was the 2010 Supreme Novices Hurdle winner. Elsewhere, Binocular, who won the 2010 Champion Hurdle after being 9/1 in the ante-post betting, is a 5/1 bet with williamhill.com following a slow start to the season, and alongside him at 5/1 is the Fighting Fifth Hurdle winner Peddlers Cross. The first day will also witness the first ever Centenary Novices Chase and it is Robinson Collonges who is favourite at 12/1 for a race that looks like it could provide good value for the punter.
The Wednesday's racing at Cheltenham will feature the Queen Mother Champion Chase and it is likely to boast a mouth watering entry list. Master Minded is 6/4 favourite in the betting with WilliamHill.com despite finishing fourth in the same card last year, and the 7-year-old is hot favourite for the Tingle Creek Chase on Saturday. Last year's winner Big Zeb is second favourite to successfully defend his title at 7/2, and the 9-year-old got his season off to a winning start at Navan during November. Elsewhere, Arkle winner Sizing Europe is an industry best priced 10/1 for the Chase but needs to improve on a couple of disappointing early season performances.
The Festival's third day's highlight will be the World Hurdle and the ante-post betting is dominated by last year's winner Big Bucks. He is currently as short as 4/5 with Hills, which is an industry best price, and he is going to take some beating as he bids for an unprecedented third consecutive World Hurdle win. Karabak will be hoping to provide a challenge and Hills installed him at 8/1 after he recorded a much needed win at Cheltenham in the Relkeel Hurdle on Saturday. Zaynar finished fourth in the same race and is an industry best price of 16/1 as a result, and could be worth a look for those looking for some value.
The final day's racing at Cheltenham Festival is renowned for the season highlight of the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the 2011 race promises to be a classic as some top horses bid for ante-post favouritism. 2010 winner Imperial Commander shares favouritism with Kauto Star at 9/2 with William Hill, with Denman currently an industry best price of 8/1. Imperial Commander claimed the win from Denman by seven lengths in 2010, after the ante-post favourite Kauto Star fell, and it should make for a fascinating watch again as they take each other on with little to choose between the three.
