Supreme Novices' Hurdle Odds: My Tent Or Yours heads classy field

My Tent Or Yours will look to hand favourite backers a winning start at the 2013 Cheltenham Festival as the Nicky Henderson-trained six-year-old will be sent off a warm favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, which is the traditional curtain-raiser to four days of tremendous national hunt action at Prestbury Park.

Always held in high regard by the Seven Barrows operation, My Tent Or Yours illustrated his potential over timber when trouncing a competitive field in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury last month and he will now be attempting to repeat that performance in the Supreme and Bet Victor have priced him up as the 6/4 favourite for the Grade One event.

Travelling well from the outset, AP McCoy was always looking ominous on board the JP McManus-owned raider and he duly quickened in the closing stages to pull five lengths clear of Cotton Mill and he was immediately slashed to market leader for the Supreme and he certainly sets a high benchmark.

However, favourites have hardly been prolific in this race with Dunguib and Cue Card a brace of short-priced shots that have failed to live up to the hype and this year’s renewal will certainly see some top class opposition taking their chance in what is arguably one of the finest races of the entire four-day extravaganza.

Jessica Harrington’s Jezki has been a revelation since his transition to the hurdling sphere and his one-and-a-half length victory over Champagne Fever in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle in December highlights his class and he further enhanced his reputation when storming to a six length success in the Grade One Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown and many of the travelling Irish contingent will feel the 4/1 on offer with Bet Victor is sensational value.

Willie Mullins will unleash a three-pronged attack on the Supreme and last year’s Champion Bumper winner Champagne Fever (7/1) returned to form last time out when winning the Grade One Deloitte Novice Hurdle, but he has form to reverse with the aforementioned Jezki, whilst the other leading Co. Carlow contender Un Atout (6/1) is making a major step up in class after three wins at a low level and it’s hard to know if he can produce the goods at the highest level.

Dodging Bullets will be looking to hand Paul Nicholls his second win in the race in three years and the Ditcheat five-year-old showed when finishing fourth in last year’s Triumph Hurdle that he acts around Cheltenham and he could well be overpriced at 8/1 in the latest betting with BetVictor, who are refunding any losing bets on the race.

A winner at Prestbury Park in October, he then followed up with a battling victory over River Maigue (12/1) in a Grade Two at the Gloucestershire venue in November, before being outclassed by the ill-fated Darlan in the Christmas Hurdle. However, his Cheltenham form is extremely solid and he possesses significant experience around the undulations and will be tough to beat in a thrilling contest.

Of the others, Puffin Billy (14/1) will hope to recapture the form that saw him ease to a Grade Two victory at Ascot earlier in the campaign, whilst 2012 Bumper winner Cheltenian (33/1) is handed this tough task on only his second start over timber, but he shaped with promise on his hurdling debut.

Tip: Dodging Bullets @ odds of 8/1 with Bet Victor.
