White Moonstone trained by Saeed Bin Suroor for Godolphin looks a good thing ahead of today’s seven runner, Group Two, May Hill Stakes over 1 mile at Doncaster. Unbeaten after two starts, White Moonstone, looked full of potential when winning her maiden on her first start in July at Ascot, where she ran on very strongly in the final furlong of six to beat a good looking field. She has subsequently followed that up with an emphatic victory over seven furlongs in the Group Three, Solera Stakes at Newmarket, where she had the highly regarded, Luca Cumani filly, Khor Sheed well beaten back in third. She will need to continue her improvement if she is going to take this race, but it looks well within her reach and the extra furlong should help and not hinder her. Certainly, jockey, Frankie Dettori has been very bullish about her chances making her very hard to oppose and even easier to back.

Midnight Caller, comes to the race after winning her maiden at Leicester just over a week ago in very gutsy style. The race which was over an extended mile, proved that the filly will not be troubled by the trip at Doncaster and her progressive nature makes her a strong challenger. Before her Leicester win she had ran second on her racecourse debut, behind the useful, Blue Bunting over course and distance, which in our book puts her well in to run well in this, where she can be backed at 5/2 with Victor Chandler.com.
It is difficult to know what to make of the Mick Channon trained, Sonning Rose. She looked like an excellent prospect when second behind Zaidan in the Listed Chesham Stakes over 7 furlongs, at Royal Ascot in June, but her last place of seven in the Group Three, Prestige Stakes on soft ground at Goodwood ten days ago, made her look just the opposite. Clearly the ground was against her at Goodwood, but there is likely to be some cut in the ground at Doncaster, which we think effectively rules her out of contention for this. Nonetheless she is third favourite to win this with odds of 9/1 with victor chandler.
