Although attempting 1 mile and 6½ furlongs for the first time in this Group 2, Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster, Meeznah, trained by David Lanigan, will be dropping down in class to run after running with a great deal of credit at Group 1 level, in the Epsom, Irish and Yorkshire Oaks, where she finished second, fourth and fourth respectively. Her trainer is confident that the step up in trip will help and not hinder her and is confident of a big run. She is almost certain to go off favourite but can be backed currently at 7/2 with Bet365.
it is interesting to see John Oxx send over his Roses For The Lady for the renewal, she ran a cracking race in the 2009 Irish Oaks, when beaten three lengths to the brilliant Sariska, but has failed to rediscover that form in her last two runs, managing only third places in Group Three and Listed races, where she also played up before getting into the stalls. Oxx has obviously been looking for a race to suit her and believing that she will stay the extra distance he feels very strongly that this race will be the one and will match her ability perfectly. We will be every interested to see how the market forms before the race but at her current price of 6/1, available from bet365 we would not be that excited.
One possible each way contender would br the Mark Tomkins trained, Brushing, a winner of two handicap races and a Listed event last time in her last four starts. She has been working extremely well at home and comes to the race in the very best of form and ready according to the trainer, to take the step up in both trip and class.
Rumoush trained by Marcus Tregoning, was a very good fourth in this year’s Oaks behind Snow Fairy, where she ran on in the final furlong after being hampered, that run strongly suggested that she would enjoy a longer trip. On Oaks form she has a bit to find with Meeznah, but she might be better suited to the longer distance and with odds of 8/1 she should not be ignored as a genuine each way prospect. It is also interesting to see Lingfield Oaks Trial winner, Dyna Waltz back on the racecourse after a few setbacks at home caused her to miss the Classic. She is very highly thought of at home and if she can reproduce earlier form over this longer trip then she has a great chance for trainer, John Gosden.

One horse who is impossible to ignore of course is the mark Johnston trained, Eastern Aria as she is the only filly to have won over this distance. She did this when taking the Group 3, Lillie Langtry Stakes during Glorious Goodwood when finishing strongly to see off Clive Cow’s Polly’s Mark (who opposes again here)by 2½ lengths. She clearly is in with a big chance in this and much will depend on how many others get the trip, nonetheless she is a solid 11/2 in the market with Bet365.com and is being well supported.
