2011 Betfred Cesarewitch Odds: Veiled amongst favourites in tight betting heat for Henderson

64 runners remained entered in this Saturday's Betfred Cesarewitch at Monday's declaration stage, as the sponsors went odds of 10/1 about three horses at the head of the betting. Veiled, Tuscan Gold and Keys can all be backed at 10/1 with Betfred, although the latter Keys could still miss the race, despite returning a clean bill of health on Monday. The field will be reduced to a maximum of 34 runners on Thursday at the 48 hour dec stage for this valuable Heritage handicap run over two miles and two furlongs, with many of horses dual contenders on the flat and over the jumps.

National Hunt trainer Nicky Henderson trains the five year old Veiled by Sadler's Wells and the Lambourn based trainer has experience in this race, having won it in 2008 with Caracciola and 2003 with Landing Light. Eddie Agern was in the saddle in 2008 and the trainer/jockey combo reunite for another crack here with Veiled, twice a winner on the flat this Summer. Two from two on the flat this season, Veiled won a handicap at Newmarket in May before easily winning the Ascot Stakes at the Royal meeting in June. Running off a mark of 9-3 on Saturday, he looks to have a really good chance.

Co-favourite Tuscan Gold looks well in at the weights for trainer Sir Mark Prescott. The 10/1 shot is one of the less experienced of the field, running just six times on the turf and never over two miles. With just two races to his name this year, he was last seen out finishing third in a handicap stakes at Goodwood last month, before that, unseating his rider at York in August. He has a win over two miles on standard but has yet to win over that distance on the turf.

The Roger Charlton trained Keys needed a scope on Monday which he came through okay, although connections warn that the four year old will need to be closely monitored this week. A winner on his last two starts, the gelding out of Doyen has the profile to run a big race here, winning on good and soft ground this season over two miles and could go close here if he runs.

Cosimo De Medici and Rainforest Magic are next in the betting at odds of 12/1 with Betfred. Four year old Cosimo De Medici is another horse on a three-timer after he won well twice at Newmarket, most lately in a trial for this race over course and distance. Irish raider Rainforest Magic was a winner last time out at Galways an shouldn't have any problem with Saturday's trip.

Further down the betting include Sentry Duty who has been backed into 16/1 with Betfred. The Nicky Henderson trained dual contender hasn't won on the flat since 2007 but was sixth in this race twelve months ago and has plenty of support here. 20/1 chance Regent Street trained by Aiden O'Brien certainly has plenty of pedigree, but is an unknown over this trip, not quite getting home in the Queen's Vase over two miles where he finished fourth.
