The Accenture World Match Play takes place in February each year at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Arizona as the world's top players from the PGA, European and Japanese Tours compete for the $8.5 million prize purse.
Golf Betting for matchplay has become a very exciting affair thanks to the matchplay format and the tournament comes very early in the season when players have not necessarily found their form and it means there is some great value to be found in the betting for each match, for division winners and for the outright winner.
In Running golf bets can be made at any time during the tournament, which is particularly important with regards to the Accenture Matchplay as the odds on each match can and do change after every shot.
Those who make cuts more regularly are usually a good bet, as are those who have played in pressure cooker type atmospheres like the Ryder Cup. The 2009 final was won by Geoff Ogilvy, who is one of the top players in the world for making the cut. Ogilvy defeated Paul Casey in the final, who is a veteran of three Ryder Cups. In other words both of these players had great Matchplay pedigrees which they proved by making the final.
A good judge of player will usually be a good judge of betting odds and would know that he could bet cost effectively by using one of the many excellent World Match Play Free Bets offers which are available right here on this site.
The World Match Play is made up of the top 64 ranked players and are split into four groups with the winners of each group pitched against each other in the semi finals. The rankings allow for the first round matches to be drawn up with the highest ranked playing against the bottom ranked player in the group and so on and so forth.
The World Matchplay is the first of the four World Golf Championship events which also include the:
