WGC Bridgestone Invitational Betting

The WGC Bridgestone Invitational is the third of four golf tournaments in the calendar year that make up the World Golf Championships.

Played each year at the Firestone Country Club in Akron Ohio, the Bridgestone Invitational hosts around 75 of the world's best golfers and is seen as the next best win to the four golfing majors. The other three World Golf Championships are the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, played at the beginning of the year, shortly followed by the WGC-CA Championship. There is then a break whilst the majors take centre stage before the Bridgestone Invitational, which is played one week before the US PGA Championship. The final WGC event of the season is played in the autumn in China, the HSBC Champions.

Bridgestone have been sponsoring this golf tournament since 2006 and it is held amongst the highest regards from the players. The event has around 75 players, which is half of what you would usually expect for a weekly tour event on the PGA Tour and Race to Dubai. All 75 players or so play all four rounds, there is no cut. Players qualify from being the top 50 ranked players in the official world rankings, for the two weeks prior to the event. You can also qualify from being in the last Presidents Cup teams or the last Ryder Cup teams. There are also places for winners of specified tour events across the world.

All the ante-post talk had been about the return of Tiger Woods from injury but it was Adam Scott who claimed victory by four shots from Rickie Fowler and Luke Donald. Scott hit a closing round 65 in partnership with Woods' former caddie Steve Williams
