Wells Fargo Championship Betting

The Wells Fargo Championship is part of the PGA Tour and takes place in early May each year. It is a popular tournament for betting as it takes place in the build up to the prestigious Players Championship, which is often seen as a fifth major and attracts plenty of top players.

Thanks to its positioning in the calendar plenty of top players travel to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Wells Fargo Championship and there is plenty of interest in players' odds ahead of the so called 'fifth major' as punters and bookmakers alike look to see where players are at form-wise.

It is a sign of the quality of player and how competitive the ante-post betting is likely to be that previous winners include Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Vijay Singh, and many more big names are likely to be in attendance with a $6.5 million prize purse on offer.

It is a tournament that is a real test of player's ability and often only the top players emerge victorious and it is worth noting in the betting that the last three holes on the course are regarded as some of  the toughest on the PGA Tour and are known as 'The Green Mile'.

Rickie Fowler finally won his first PGA Tour title as the young American beat Rory McIlroy and DA Points at the first extra hole in a play-off after the pair had tied on 14 under par.
