Valero Texas Open Betting

The Valero Texas Open takes place each year after the US Masters in April at the Oaks Course at the TPC San Antonio golf resort. It has gained a reputation on the PGA Tour for being an event at which the players consistently card low scores which has also made for some interesting betting over the years.

Some great names from the world of golf have won the title in the past, including Arnold Palmer, and it has been going since its inception in 1922. The $6.1 million event always attracts a strong field but due to it being so soon after the US Masters it means that the very best in the world sometimes opt to give it a miss which means there is plenty of value and competition in the ante-post odds.

Of current players, Justin Leonard is the stand out name to look out for in the ante-post betting as he currently jointly holds the record number of wins in the Texas Open. The American has won the event three times (2000, 2001, 2007) to match the feat of the great Arnold Palmer. Zach Johnson is another that is likely to be found at short price odds after his consecutive victories in 2008 and 2009, while 2010 winner Australian Adam Scott became the first player from outside of the USA to win the event since 1992

Ben Curtis won his first PGA Tour event for six years as he beat Matt Every and John Huh by two shots at the Texas Open. Curtis's final round included a 22-foot par saving putt at the 17th and he held his nerve at the final hole.
