Home / Golf / Scandinavian Masters
The Nordea (or Scandinavian) Masters is part of the European Tour and takes place each year during late July or early August at the Bro Hoff Slot Golf Club in Sweden,
It is the only European Tour event to be held in Scandinavia at the moment, which makes it a rare betting opportunity. Interestingly home advantage has proven to be a big plus as a couple of Sweden players have taken victory from long odds to give punters plenty to smile about, as Peter Hanson took victory in 2008 and Richard Johnson in 2010.
However, due to the timing of the event in the tour calendar, the Scandinavian Masters has struggled to attract the very best players in the world of golf in recent years. It takes place after the third major of the year, the British Open, and many players will opt to take a week off after the links tournament, which means the Swedish event suffers. But of course it also means there is likely to be plenty of value to be found in the betting as the lesser lights on the tour try to shine.
In past years, the likes of Luke Donald, Adam Scott and Graeme McDowell have won the tournament though and if they are in attendance this year they are likely to be right near the head of the betting and battling to be ante-post favourite.

Sweden's Alexander Soren won the Nordea Masters in fine style as he finished seven shots clear of the rest of the field. He could even afford a final round 77 as he started the day eleven shots clear. England's Richard Finch finished runner up but no one could match the inspired Soren.
Result:
1. Alexander Soren (Swe) - 273 (-15)
2. Richard Finch (Eng) - 280 (-8)
3. NIklas Lemke (Swe) - 283 (-5)

The USPGA is the next major in the tour calendar and it always attracts a strong field, with American players enjoying great success at the different venues over the years - particularly Tiger Woods, who has won the event four times in the past and he will be keen to prove he still has what it takes to win after a difficult few years.
Players from overseas have taken advantage of Woods' recent difficulties as the European pair Martin Kaymer and Padraig Harrington have taken the title, with South Korean YE Yang also emerging victorious from longer odds.
