Puerto Rico Open Betting

The Puerto Rico Open presented by Banco Popular is held at the Trump International Golf Club and follows quickly on the heels of the Honda Classic in the PGA Tour calendar. It is a relatively new tournament following its inauguration in 2008 where it was won by Greg Kraft, and it is a tournament that is likely to provide plenty of value in the betting.

Because of the tournaments' relative infancy on the PGA Tour it struggles to attract the top players and the fact it is played during the same week as the prestigious WGC-CA Championship means that it is always going to fall a distant second in terms of priority for the very best players on the tour. That is not to say that there aren't some great opportunities to be had in the betting as it provides an alternative to the WGC-CA Championship. And the lack of truly top odds-on type players means that there are likely to be some long-odds in the ante-post betting that could be in and around the top of the leaderboard, which could be well worth placing a bet on once you've done your research.

It is likely to be an event that gradually gathers more interest on the tour, especially as there is a prize purse of $3.5 million on offer, with the winner receiving $630,000.

WGC-CA Championship

The second World Golf Championship of the year and is held at a variety of courses in the USA each year. It always attracts a strong field, with the likes of Tiger Woods and Ernie Els in attendance.

During the past few years it has been held at the Doral Golf Resort, and it has been Tiger Woods who has dominated - winning 6 of the 11 tournaments up to 2010. Ernie Els was victorious in 2010 and it always makes for compelling viewing as the world's best go head-to-head.

It should provide some great opportunities for having a bet as the world's best will start to hit form at this point in the season and with the US Masters coming up everyone will be looking for form......
