BMW Italian Open Betting

The BMW Italian Open takes place each year in early June and while it is still a respected part of the European Tour, it has struggled to attract the biggest names in golf in recent years.

Its struggle to attract those top names is largely due to its timing in the season as it falls just before the prestigious major of the US Open, with many of the top players opting to take a week off. But the bonus for punters is the fact there is likely to be plenty of value to be found in the odds.

Many players have upset the betting in recent years with winners including Fredrick Andersson Hed, Daniel Vancsik and Hennie Otto. Although past winners do include three time winner Ian Poulter, Graeme McDowell and Francesco Molinari so if they are in the field they could be well worth looking out for in the ante-post betting.

The tournament itself is held at the Royal Park Golf Club in Turin, Italy, and it boasts a prize found of 1.3 million(euros). Even without the top names it still provides an attractive betting spectacle and it is always worth remembering that bookies usually often offer online in-running betting.

Englishman Robert Rock won his first ever European Tour title in Turin as he ended a nine year wait for that first win. Rock never looked like relinquishing the lead he had held from the opening day as he beat fellow countryman Gary Boyd by a shot, while Italian favourites Matteo Manassero and Francesco Molinari were five shots off the lead in eighth.
