The Irish Open has been chopped and changed in many respects over the years but it has now found itself being played at the Killarney Golf Club in Ireland during late July or early August, and it remains a popular betting event.
It used to be played before the BMW PGA Championship but it now offers an important build up to the USPGA Championship and is the only European Tour event to be played on Irish soil.
From a betting perspective, it is well worth looking out for the odds of Irish contenders as former Open Championship winner Padraig Harrington has claimed the title in the past after being well backed in the betting. While his fellow countryman, Shane Lowry, took victory from long odds in 2009.
With the likes of Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke winning majors in recent seasons, they are likely to be found at short odds and Clarke in particular could offer value in the betting as they look to provide some home cheer.
Also, it is worth noting that players from near to the Irish shores have prospered, with Ross Fisher, Stephen Dodd and Colin Montgomerie all taking the title in recent years.

2. Richard Green (Aus) - 270 (-14)
3. Stephen Gallacher (Sco) - 272 (-12)

The USPGA is the next major in the tour calendar and it always attracts a strong field, with Tiger Woods enjoying huge success over the years as he has won the event four times in the past.
Players from overseas have taken advantage of Woods' recent difficulties as the European pair Martin Kaymer and Padraig Harrington have taken the title, with South Korean YE Yang also emerging victorious from longer odds.
