The Sony Open in Hawaii is the second PGA Tour event of the season, after the Tournament of Champions, and is in fact the first event of the tour that involves a full field of players. It was established in 1965 and has always been held at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii.
It is a good opportunity to have a bet early on in the season with a full field present and plenty of players in the past have defied the ante-post odds to record wins. Not least Ryan Palmer, Zach Johnson and David Toms in an event that is traditionally dominated by American players both in the betting and during the tournament.
Interestingly the event has invited Michelle Wie in the past to take part in the event, although she has missed the cut in each of her four attempts. It might be worth keeping an eye on any future female invitees from the LPGA Tour in the future and it could represent decent value to have a bet on her making the halfway cut.

The Bob Hope Classic is the third event of the PGA Tour season and takes place during January. It is a unique event as it is played over five days and rotates between four courses each day.
