The Dubai Desert Classic is part of the European Tour and has always attracted a strong playing field which in turn makes for some great betting opportunities. The event was first established in 1989 and was in fact the first European Tour golf event to take place in the Middle East.
It is scheduled to take place each year during February at the Majilis Course at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai. There is a prize fund of $2.5 million dollars and along with a hefty appearance fee it has never struggled to attract the world's top players. The tour then moves on to India for the Indian masters in February.
Past winners include the likes of Tiger Woods, Seve Ballesteros and Rory McIlroy, but it is Ernie Els who stands out having won the Desert Classic three times.
Some great names from the world of golf have won the Dubai Desert Classic in the past, players such as Els, Woodds and McIlroy are always likely to head the betting. While in 2010 it was Miguel Angel Jimenez who defied the odds to win, and he is always worth keeping an eye on as he represents great value in the betting so often.
