Home / Golf / Byron Nelson Championship
The HP Byron Nelson Championship takes place during May each year and is an exciting part of the PGA Tour calendar. It takes place at the Four Seasons Resort in Irving Texas, and it takes place usually just after the Crown Plaza Invitational at Colonial which is also in Texas.
The Byron Nelson is an exciting betting opportunity as some top players will opt to take a few weeks off after the Players Championship and there could be some good value to be found in the odds. There is a $6.5 million prize purse on offer though so there is still plenty of quality on show.
It is worth noting when looking at the odds that no player has won the tournament more than once since Bruce Lietzke back in 1988 and it has been a tournament that has treated the Australian players well, with Jason Day and Adam Scott both winning in recent years.
The tournament is named after the professional golfer Byron Nelson, and the only other PGA Tour tournament to do likewise is the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Interestingly the event is also a leading fundraiser for charity on the tour and has raised as much as $100 million in the past.

The Memorial Tournament is only one of a select number of events on the PGA Tour that has invitational status, with only 75 of the top money earners from the year before invited.
Tiger Woods leads the way with most wins in the tournament but always faces plenty of competition as plenty of the best players in the world compete for a $6 million prize fund.
There is likely to be another strong feld this year and that is likely to be reflected in the odds for this exciting betting event......
