The AT&T National, not to be confused with the AT&T Pebble Beach National, takes place each year during July and will return to the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland in 2012 after being held at the Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania in 2010 and 2011.
The fact it falls between the US Open and the British Open in the tour calendar means it is always well attended by the top players and it ensures there is always plenty of competition at the head of the betting.
Generally there is one man who leads the way as ante-post favourite in the odds though and that is Tiger Woods, as the 2009 champion is actually hosted by Tiger Woods in support of his charity the Tiger Woods Foundation.
The strong quality field and strong competition for favouritism in the odds is enhanced by the fact the AT&T National is an invitational event.
The four other Invitational events on the PGA Tour are:
Arnold Palmer Invitational | The Heritage | The Memorial | Crown Plaza at Colonial
| Year | Winner | Country | Score |
| 2007 | KJ Choi | South Korea | 271 (-9) |
| 2008 | Anthony Kim | USA | 268 (-12) |
| 2009 | Tiger Woods | USA | 267 (-13) |
| 2010 | Justin Rose | England | 270 (-10) |
| 2011 | Nick Watney | USA | 267 (-13) |
Nick Watney beat 2007 champion KJ Choi by two shots to secure his second tour win of the season after he claimed the WGC-Cadillac Championship recently.
Result:
1. Nick Watney (USA) - 267 (-13)
2. KJ Choi (Kor) - 269 (-11)
4. Charles Howell III (USA) - 271 (-9)
4. Jeff Overton (USA) - 271 (-9)
4. Adam Scott (Aus) - 271 (-9)

With the US Open over, the British Open is the next major in the calendar and it promises to be another classic this year. It is due to take place again in July and it is another exciting betting opportunity as the top names from the world of golf compete on British soil.
The top names are likely to be available at short odds again this year but the Open can throw up a surprise or two, as in 2010 when Louis Oosthuizen upset the odds to win his first ever major tournament.
