Alfred Dunhill Championship Betting

The Alfred Dunhill Championship is part of the South African Sunshine Tour and is also co-sanctioned by the European Tour. There are always plenty of betting opportunities with some big names, particularly South African, from the world of golf involved. It was established in 2000 and takes place during December each year at the Leopard Creek Golf Club in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

It was originally held in January each year but was changed to December in 2004, which in fact meant that the tournament was held twice during that year. The tournament has been won by some big names in the past including Ernie Els, Justin Rose and Adam Scott, and there is a 1million(Euros) prize fund at stake.

Previous Alfred Dunhill Championship Winners

Some big names from golf have won the tournament in the past, but in 2010 it was Spaniard Pablo Martin who defied the odds to win the tournament for a second time. Martin became the first player to win the Alfred Dunhill twice and the first player since 2007 to succesfully defend a European Tour title.

There tends to be a strong South African field nowadays so it is always worth keeping an eye on the likes of Schwartzel, Oosthuizen and co in the betting, with the South African Championship also coming up in December.

Alfred Dunhill Championship 2011 Result

South African Garth Mulroy won the Alfred Dunhill on home soil as he fired a final round 68 to ensure he maintained the lead he had held going into the final day. Scotsman George Murray took second after a closing round of 67, while fellow countryman Peter Whiteford was tied for third with Felipe Aguilar, George Coetzee and Jaco Van Zyl.
